This sculpture was created out of precious materials and took 350 hours to manufacture. The angel was carved with hand tools from antique Canadian whale tooth ivory and black ebony wood acquired in Sri Lanka. The angel is adorned with 24-karat gold leaf applied in ten layers. Each layer was burnished onto copal varnish in the age-old manner of the great masters; an almost lost and forgotten art. The base of walnut from Canada was hand turned on a lathe and finished with ten coats of bare hand rubbed wax. The glass dome is hand blown with a 22 karat gold band around its base.
