This sculpture took 270 hours to create and was entirely handmade from precious materials. The fish is carved out of black pyrophyllite stone from South Africa. The pryophyllite was hand polished, working down to ultrafine 2,000-grit sandpaper. The eyes are of inlayed carnelian stones from Egypt. The base is made from Amethyst which nature coated on one side with minute double-ended quartz crystals. The base, an extremely rare piece of stone, was found in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
